A Scribe will transcribe patient medical reports and other patient data under the direct supervision of the physician. The primary role of the Scribe is the assist the physician documentation in the medical chart of each patient. Scribes will accompany the physician on exams and will transcribe history & physicals, problem lists, review of systems, procedures, test results and orders as dictated by the physician. The scribe's duty will be to enhance the documentation legibility and thoroughness of documentation.
Transcribes material as directed by physician, including (but not limited to) comprehensive history and physicals, orders, consults and procedures.
Verifies accuracy of information by proof reading all documents.
Assists with patient flow and accompanies physician to other treatment areas as directed.
Performs other duties as assigned, including (but not limited to) answering telephones preparing documents for scanning, filling reports, etc.
Attends all required staff meetings and educational offerings.
The Scribe does not assist with patient care directly and does not handle any patient body fluids or any item that may be contaminated with body fluids.
Must have completed a minimum of 2 years of college/university education in a healthcare related field (pre-med is preferred)
Must have good word processing and basic data entry skills.
Medical Terminology is preferred.
Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
