Reporting to the Manager of Materials Operations, the Procurement Specialist isdirectly responsible for managing, ordering and maintaining facility supplies required for all clinical activities.
·Prepares, interprets and manages purchases for a broad variety of requirements such as medical/surgical products, laboratory products, radiology products and non-medical goods and /or capital purchases.
·Evaluates potential sources of merchandise/services, conducts price analyses, places orders according to best options available within procedural guidelines and institutional time frames, and resolves problems between external customers (vendors) and internal customers.
·Prepares price/cost analyses for supply contracts, tracks and monitors contract changes, deliverables and performance of vendors.
·Ensures a clear understanding of supply contract terms and conditions.
·Ensure that all contractual transactions are in adherence with applicable federal, state and local mandates and that all analyses and reporting follow established business processes and best practice methodology.
·Knowledge of inventory, par level management, and stocking within supply rooms.
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Five years purchasing experience with progressively increasing responsibility in strategic procurement operations within a healthcare or related business organization required.
Knowledge of purchasing systems (i.e. Pyxis, Meditech, Advantx, McKesson, PeopleSoft, Lawson, or similar ERP systems required).
Experience and strong understanding of hospital value analysis program and related practices within healthcare Supply Chain preferred.
Prior experience in business operations or Supply Chain within a healthcare/hospital environment preferred.
