Infection Preventionist – Environmental & Ambulatory Specialist

The Infection Preventionist Specialist collaborates with Facility, Project Managers, and Life Safety leaders to provide infection prevention oversight of construction related activities, educate and assess the physical environment for infection risk, and provide recommendations.

Essential Duties:

• Develop infection control policies and protocols for the Hospital Centers’ ambulatory settings, working in collaboration with a diverse team of technical and clinical experts.
• Use knowledge of infection prevention guidelines and regulatory standards of external accrediting agencies to ensure the risk of infection is minimized in the inpatient and outpatient care environments.
• Conduct regularly scheduled assessments and work closely with Sterile Processing and Ambulatory leaders to develop and implement infection control policies and protocols for those areas.
• Leverage broad-based experience in Infection Prevention and serve as ambulatory practices subject matter expert, ability to work in a consultative and impact-driven environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology or related science field
• Five years of progressively more responsible infection prevention experience with knowledge of strategies related to construction/renovation, disinfection and sterilization, microbiology, epidemiology and statistics
• Ability to successfully handle multiple projects and prioritize and schedule accordingly
• Certification in Infection Control is preferred
• If RN, current District of Columbia licensure as RN is required
