Associate Dean/Executive Associate Dean for Student Affairs
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for the position of Associate Dean/Executive Associate Dean for Student Affairs. This is an open rank and full-time position. Faculty rank depends on qualifications and prior accomplishments. Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree as a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctorate degree from an accredited medical college or university. Candidates should have a minimum of five (5) years of administrative leadership experience in an accredited medical school. Preferred qualifications include: evidence of national reputation; previous effective university administration or leadership roles; involvement with academic strategic planning; experience with student programs and alumni relations; ability to initiate philanthropy efforts; development of relationships with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and other national organizations; knowledge of budget and resource management; experience with accreditation for academic programs; mentoring faculty and students; experience working with multiple constituencies and establishing effective collaborations within departments at University and community levels; and the ability to foster a culture that values diverse views and perspectives.
The Associate Dean/Executive Associate Dean for Student Affairs is expected to implement strategic programs that complement and enhance the academic, clinical, community service, and research programs of HWCOM, enrich the experience and development of the medical students, and promote a professional, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. HWCOM seeks a leader who will be responsible for all the strategic and operational aspects of the Office of Student Affairs, including but not limited to recruitment and admissions, grades and records, financial aid, health and wellness programs, student support services, medical student counseling and wellness center, student travel, learning communities, student organizations and student groups, career and professional guidance, international study, fundraising, and alumni relations.
