Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (ECU) is now accepting applications for a full-time faculty position (Assistant, Associate, or full Professor) to serve as the Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program. The position emphasizes a leadership role and offers an excellent blend of clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activities in this growing multi-disciplinary, and collegial department.
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program is ACGME-accredited for 4 residents, with two rotating off each year. The program is based in rural psychiatry tenets and residents train in a variety of training sites throughout eastern North Carolina. Drawn form Pitt and the surrounding 33 counties in eastern NC, the patient population is socio-economically and racially diverse. The Residency Program Director responsibilities include residency program development and evaluation, resident recruitment and selection; resident evaluation and supervision; course/rotation monitoring and evaluation; coordination of all course and rotation scheduling; serving as the chairperson of the residency training committee; and community engagement with physicians, hospital administrators and community site coordinators.
There are clinical opportunities in outpatient child psychiatry in the university-based clinics as well as in community health centers, consultation with pediatric practices, juvenile justice, telemedicine, or in resident clinic supervision.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of a medical school approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the AAMC and the Council of Medical Education on the AMA; Graduate of an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency training program and ACGME-accredited child and adolescent training program. Board Certified by ABPN in general and child and adolescent psychiatry. Eligible for license in the State of North Carolina.
Preferred Education and Experience: At least three years post residency; experience running a residency training program; experience in medical education; and working collaboratively with other mental health professional as part of a multidisciplinary team.
